Dude, that is literally the least of your worries right now. You nearly died, Liam. Focus on getting to where you're not nearly dead and then worry about animal products or whatever.

You can "do your part"--and yes there's air quotes there--and not nearly die, y'know. I'm not saying give up the vegan thing if you really wanna do it but man, there are plenty of vegans who manage to not nearly die.
